PureFuel Technologies hosts seminars about microbial contamination in modern fuels
Experts in the field of microbial fuel contamination delivered a series of presentations to audiences of fuel industry professionals at events held in Suffolk and Brussels on 26th and 27th October 2009. The theme was to look at the reverse side of the ‘green medal’ – examining the consequences of the fuel industry’s legislation-driven transition to blending in sustainable, carbon-neutral biomass. Biofuels may be good news for the environment, but what about the emerging implications to storage and use?
Growing interest and concern regarding biofuel impact on fuel suppliers, retailers and users was reflected in the number and variety of guests who travelled from all over Europe to attend the seminars. Fuel microbiology and contamination management techniques were detailed in lively presentations by leading American microbiologist
Dr Fred Passman. Dr Aubrey Burrows, representing Tesco (now the UK's largest fuel retailer by volume) talked about the problem from a fuel retailer's perspective.
